Lamps and Dioramas

My lamps and dioramas explore perceptions of security with an examination of the shelters that living creatures (human and animal) create. Some of the works clearly address the type of structures that humans build to shield themselves from the elements and from other humans. Regional elements are captured in many of the works, such as Acadian Lighthouse – an homage to the cultural heritage in my home state. Other lamps look more at the protective structures constructed by animals and insects – apparent in cocoon-like qualities integrating branches, twigs and thorns. All are part of the naturalworld we share, and all are, in reality, fragile defenses.
